GQ Magazine

Best in the World for self defence. It is totally practical, no flashy kicks or great spiritual angle.

Krav Maga Frequently Asked Questions

How can I try Krav Maga

Complete the “Book A Class Form” or give us a call. You’ll hear back within 1 working day.

Am I to old?

Krav Maga is for everyone. Unless you have a serious health issue, there is no reason you can’t train into your sixties or even seventies. Ease off on the intensity, take a break as you need it – the fitness & skills will come.

Do I need to be fit?

No. Krav Maga is a great route to fitness for anyone. Krav is way more fun than gyms or fitness classes and our group ethos makes it far easier to get and stay motivated. You’ll notice a difference in as little as 3 weeks.

In 12 weeks you will wish you had started years ago.

Will I get hurt?

We are professional instructors, safety is always the priority. Statistically, Krav Maga is safer than football, rugby or hockey. Small bumps and bruises are not uncommon, serious injury is.

Whilst all training carries a level of risk, the likelihood of serious injury doing Krav Maga is very low.

How long before I can defend myself?

This depends on the threat. For the average person training twice a week, we would expect effective skills to deal with common situations after 12 weeks.

How often should I train

At a minimum of once a week. We reccomend twice a week for most. But the choice is yours.

Are there Belts or Gradongs

Krav Maga does not use the Japanese belt system. We have levels, Practitioner levels for students, and Graduate levels for instructors. Students can grade in their club but this is regulated by the British Krav Maga Association to ensure quality standards. Some gradings are conducted

We have levels. Practitioner levels for students and Graduate levels for instructors. Students can grade in their club but this is regulated by the British Krav Maga Association to ensure quality standards. Some gradings are conducted in house, others by an external examiner sent by the Association.

Is training expensive?

Krav Maga training is not expensive generally. Training fees are usually on par with fitness classes at £6-8 an hour.  Payment is collected by Direct Debit each month.

Do I have to sign a contract?

We offer professional coaching – if it is appropriate for you.  You wont be pressurised to join us.

If training is right for you, you select the tariff that best suits your needs. We require a minimum commitment of 4 months training, becuase if you cant commit to regular attendance for 4 months there is little point starting the coaching process.

But remember, your first session is free and is a great opportunity to try Krav Maga out before you make a decision.
